Volkswagen Tiguan Service and Repair Manual: Fog Lamp

General Information

Note

The design of the front bumper cover on the Tiguan has two different approach angles (18º and 28º) depending on the equipment level. Removing and installing the fog lamp bulb or the fog lamp itself is the identical for both versions.

Malfunction Recognition and Malfunction Indicator

Vehicle electrical system control is equipped with OBD which assists with Fault Finding at the fog lamps.

Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in "Guided Fault Finding".

  1. Front Bumper Cover
  2. Fog Lamp Housing
    • Removing and installing.
  3. Screw
    • 1.5 Nm
  4. Left Front Fog Lamp Bulb -L22- or Right Front Fog Lamp Bulb -L23- and Left Cornering Lamp Bulb -L148- or Right Cornering Lamp Bulb -L149-
    • Bulb HB4 12V, 51W
    • Removing and installing.
  5. Bleeder Hose
  6. Trim

Fog Lamp, Removing and Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • Torque Wrench 1783 - 2-10Nm -VAG1783-

Note

The following illustrations depict removal and installation of left fog lamp. Removing and installing the right fog lamp is identical.

Removing

  • Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.
  • Remove the front bumper cover.
  • Unclip and remove the trim -1- from the retainers -arrows- in the bumper cover.

  • Remove screw -arrow-.
  • Remove the fog lamp housing -1- from the bumper cover. Pay attention to the wires still connected.

  • Disconnect the connector -arrow-.
  • Remove the fog lamp housing.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

  • Tighten the threaded connection to the tightening specification given in the assembly overview.
  • Check headlamp for function.
  • Check the fog lamp setting and adjust if necessary.

Fog Lamp Bulb and Static Cornering Lamp, Removing and Installing

Note

  • The bulb inside the fog lamp housing functions as a fog lamp and, depending on the vehicle equipment level, also as the static cornering lamp.
  • The illustrations show the procedure for removing and installing the left fog lamp. Removing and installing the right fog lamp is identical.

Removing

  • Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.
  • Remove the fog lamp.
  • Turn the bulb socket with the fog lamp bulb/static cornering lamp -1- in the direction of -arrow- and remove it from the fog lamp.

The fog lamp bulb/stationary cornering lamp and the bulb socket are a single piece and cannot be replaced separately.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

  • Check the headlamp functions.
  • Check the fog lamp setting and adjust if necessary.
