Driver Side Footwell Vent, Removing and Installing
Removing
- Remove the driver footwell cover.
- Remove the bolts -2- (1.5 +- 0.2 Nm) and
remove left footwell vent -1-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
Front Passenger Side Footwell Vent, Removing and Installing
Removing
- Remove the glove compartment.
- Remove the screws -2- (1.5 +- 0.2 Nm) and
the right footwell vent -1-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
Note
If the vehicle has glove compartment cooling, check that the coolant hose is
seated correctly.
Rear Footwell Vent, Removing and Installing
Removing
Note
The procedure for removing rear channels is identical for both sides.
- Remove the front passenger or driver side seat.
- Remove the center console.
- Lift the carpet, unclip the rear channel from the underbody and remove
it from the heater.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
Note
When installing the rear channel, ensure the rear channel is first slid onto
heater -arrow- and then clipped in to floor.
Vehicle Interior Forced Air Extraction, Removing and Installing
Removing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Trim Removal Wedge -3409-
- Remove the rear bumper cover.
- Release the tabs -2- using the Trim Removal
Wedge -3409--1- and remove the vent frame
-3- from the side panel.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
Vehicle Interior Forced Air Extraction, Checking
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Trim Removal Wedge -3409-
Note
- The stale air escapes through the vent openings in the luggage
compartment trim.
- If the ventilation is to function properly, the ventilation openings
must not be covered.
- Ventilation frames are located in rear side panels, behind bumper cover.
Checking
- Remove the rear bumper cover.
- The sealing lips -1- in the ventilation
frame on both sides of vehicle must be free to move and close automatically.
- Observe the installation position.

Removing
- Remove the plenum chamber cover.
Note
- Beginning 05/25/2008, vehicles with Climatronic have a bracket with an
Air Quality Sensor -G238- is installed on the air grille.
- Air Quality Sensor -G238- function.
- Release the Air Quality Sensor -G238--1-
and turn it to the right to remove from the bracket.
- Remove the flange nuts -arrows- (2.5 +- 0.4
Nm) and remove the air grille upward.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
Note
The seal must fit correctly in the air grille.
Assembly sequence:
- Align the air grille on the flange.
- Hold the air grille and install the side flange nuts (2.5 +- 0.4 Nm).
Rear Vents, Removing and Installing

Removal and installation of the rear vents (in the armrest).
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
Center Vent, Removing and Installing
Note
- The center vents and center instrument panel trim are a single
component.
- Removal and installation of the center instrument panel.
Driver Side/Front Passenger Side Vent, Removing and Installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Trim Removal Wedge -3409-
Note
- Vent removal on both sides is identical.
- To prevent damage to instrument panel, use a pad when prying out.
Removing
- Unclip the air vent for the side window -2-
from the instrument panel -1-.
- Remove the vent -3- from the instrument
panel using the Trim Removal Wedge -3409-.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
