Driver Side Switch Cluster

Driver Side Switch Cluster, Removing and Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required

• Trim Removal Wedge -3409-

Depending on the vehicle equipment, the following components are integrated in the driver door switch cluster:

• Mirror Adjusting Switch -E43-
• Mirror Selector Switch -E48-
• Exterior Rearview Mirror Heating Switch -E231-
• Mirror Adjustment Switch Illumination Bulb -L78-
• Mirror Folding Switch -E263-
• Left Front Window Regulator Switch -E40-
• Left Rear Window Regulator Switch in Driver Door -E53-
• Right Rear Window Regulator Switch in Driver Door -E55-
• Right Front Power Window Switch in Driver Door -E81-
• Child Safety Lock Button -E318-
• Child Safety Lock -Activated- Indicator Lamp -K236-
• Push Button Illumination Bulb -L76-
• Central Locking -Safe- Indicator Lamp -K133-

Note

The components listed above cannot be replaced separately.

Note

When removing and installing components in visible area (switches, covers, trim, etc.), cover by taping the areas at which a prying tool (Trim Removal Wedge -3409-, screwdriver) will be positioned using commercially available adhesive tape.

Removing

• Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.
• Remove the door trim panel.
• Release the tabs -arrows- and remove the Central Locking -Safe- Indicator Lamp -K133--1 -.

• Release the tabs -arrows- and remove the switch cluster on the driver side from the door trim panel. Start on the right side.

• Lift the switch cluster on the driver side slightly upward -arrow A- and then remove it from the door trim panel in the direction of -arrow B-.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

Driver Interior Locking Button -E308-

Driver Interior Locking Button -E308-, Removing and Installing

The Driver Interior Locking Button -E308- is inside the driver side door trim panel.

Note

The Push Button Illumination Bulb -L76-, which cannot be replaced separately, is integrated in the Driver Interior Locking Button -E308-.

Removing

• Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.
• Remove the door trim panel.
• Remove both screws -arrows- and the shell -1-.

• Open the retainers -arrows- and remove the door opener -1- together with the button from the door trim panel.

• Release the tabs -arrows- and remove the Driver Interior Locking Button -E308- from the frame.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

Interior Door Handle Illumination Bulb

Interior Door Handle Illumination Bulb, Removing and Installing

The Driver Interior Door Handle Illumination Bulb -L146- or Front Passenger Interior Door Handle Illumination Bulb -L147- is installed in the door trim panel.

Note

• The following describes the removal and installation of the Driver Interior Door Handle Illumination Bulb -L146-.
• Removing and installing the Front Passenger Interior Door Handle Illumination Bulb -L147- is identical.

Removing

• Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.
• Remove the door trim panel.
• Remove both screws -arrows- and the shell -1-.

• Open the retainers -arrows- and remove the door opener -1- from the door trim panel.

• Remove the Driver Interior Door Handle Illumination Bulb -L146- from its mount in the direction of -arrow-.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

Components - Front Door Lock

The following components are integrated in the driver door lock (depending on the equipment):

• Driver Door Contact Switch -F2-
• Driver Central Locking Lock Unit -F220-
• Driver Door Central Locking System Motor -V56-
• Driver Door Central Locking -Safe- Motor -V161-

The following components are integrated in the front passenger door lock (depending on the equipment):

• Front Passenger Side Central Locking Motor -V57-Front Passenger Door Contact Switch -F3-
• Front Passenger Central Locking Lock Unit -F221-
• Front Passenger Door Central Locking System Motor -V57-
• Front Passenger Central Locking -Safe- Motor -V162-

Note

The components listed above cannot be replaced separately.

If there are faulty components in the front door locks:

• Replace the respective door lock.
