High-Mounted Brake Lamp Bulb -M25-

High-Mounted Brake Lamp Bulb -M25-, Removing and Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  • Trim Release Lever - Wedge -T10039/1-

Note

  • Faulty LED(s) in the high-mounted brake lamp:
  • Individual LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) in high-mounted brake lamp are combined into groups of up to 3 LEDs and are supplied with power as a group.
  • If one LED should fail, the other LEDs will be loaded even more and will fail soon.
  • If one LED group is faulty (3 individual LEDs), the legally required brightness set forth by the Economic Commission for Europe it still met.
  • If more than 3 individual LEDs are faulty, the legally required brightness will no longer be meet and the high-mounted brake lamp must be replaced.

Removing

  • Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.
  • Tape off the area above the brake lamp with tape -1-.

  • Insert the Trim Release Lever - Wedge -T10039/1--1- at the top between the High-Mounted Brake Lamp Bulb -M25--2- and the rear lid.

  • Release the retainer for the High-Mounted Brake Lamp Bulb -M25- by pushing the wedge -1- in the drive direction.
  • Remove the High-Mounted Brake Lamp Bulb -M25- from the rear lid. Pay attention to the wires still connected.

  • Unlock the retainers -2- in the direction of -arrow A- and push the compact connector -1- out of the holder in the direction of -arrow B- at the same time.

  • Push the retainer -1- in the direction of -arrow- and pull the connector -2- out upward.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Make sure the seal for the High-Mounted Brake Lamp Bulb -M25- fits correctly. Seal should not warp any straps and must not be damaged.

  • Connect the compact connector and push it onto the holder on the bulb body.
  • Install the high-mounted brake lamp into the rear lid and make sure it is secure.
  • Check the functionality of the High-Mounted Brake Lamp Bulb -M25-.
