Volkswagen Tiguan Service and Repair Manual: Sound System Amplifier

General Information

Note

  • Before troubleshooting or servicing, the technicians must be familiar with the function and operation of the radio and radio navigation system.
  • Refer to the Owner's Manual.
  • Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester"Guided Fault Finding" function and → Wiring diagrams, Troubleshooting & Component locations when servicing or fault finding.
  • When the battery is reconnected, check any affected system or component (radio, clock, comfort electrical connection etc.) according to the repair manual and/or the Owner's Manual.

The sound system amplifier serves to expand the sound of the radio unit or radio navigation system.

It can be obtained for the corresponding appropriate radio units and radio navigation systems as special equipment.

The amplifier is an 8-channel amplifier.

The activation of signal inputs to amplifier occurs via radio speaker outputs or the radio/navigation system.

The amplifier is installed under the left front seat.

Remove and install amplifier.

Troubleshooting

The amplifier is equipped with OBD.

To fault find, use "Guided Fault Finding" in the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester

Removing

Do the following before starting the procedure:

  • Turn off the ignition and all electric consumers and remove the key.

The amplifier is installed under the left front seat.

  • Move the seat as far up and back as possible.
  • Unclip cover -arrow- on seat at bottom.

  • Remove screws -arrows- on amplifier.
  • Pull out the amplifier just far enough until the connectors are accessible.

  • Release and remove the connector on the amplifier in the direction of -arrow-.

Note

Different amplifiers may have a different number of connectors, and the procedure for removing the connectors may be different.

  • Remove the amplifier.

Installing

  • Slide the amplifier into the mount -arrow B- on the bracket in the direction of -arrow A-.
