- Torque Wrench 1783 - 2-10Nm - VAG1783-
- Torque Wrench 1331 5-50Nm - VAG1331-
- Torque Wrench 1332 40-200Nm - VAG1332-
Bench Seat, Removing and Installing
Removing
Vehicles with Variable Luggage Compartment Floor
- Pull the luggage compartment floor - 18-
out of the backrest panel - 17- and remove it
out of the vehicle.
All Vehicles
- Remove the bolts - 13-,
- 14-, - 15- and
- 19- (60 Nm).
- Remove the caps - 3-,
- 6-, - 8- and -
10-.
- Remove the nuts - 2-,
- 5-, - 7- and -
9- (60 Nm).
- Remove the trim - 1-,
- 4- and - 11- from the seat rails.
- Pull the left segment - 16- of the rear
bench seat forward - arrow A-.
- Lift the left rear bench seat in the front - arrow
B-.
- Fold the rear backrest all the way forward, and with a second
technician, remove the section from the vehicle.
Note
Removing the right rear bench seat - 12- is
identical.
Installing
- Install in reverse order of removal.
Perform the Following Function test after Installing:
- Operate the forward/back adjustment; the rear bench seat must move
evenly.
- Move both sections of the rear bench seat as far back as possible.
- Operate the backrest release; the backrest must fold forward on its own.
If this does not happen, remove the screws and align the rear bench seat once
again.
Seat Cushion, Removing and Installing
Note
The procedure describes removing and installing the left seat cushion in the
rear bench seat. The procedure is the same for the right seat cushion.
Removing
- Slide the left rear bench seat all the way forward.
- Fold the backrest forward.
- Remove the bolt - 6- (6 Nm) and release the
spring - 7- from the gliding piece
- 5-.
Caution
The backrest must be folded forward when loosening from the spring
- 7-. This position releases the tension from the
spring.
- Fold the backrest toward the rear once again.
- Remove the two nuts - 2-.
- Using a screwdriver, push the bracket - 1-
slightly upward and remove the seat cushion from the stud bolts on the right
seat rail - 3-.
Note
The bracket - 1- is not installed on the right
rear bench seat.
- Remove the two nuts - 10-.
- Using a screwdriver, push the bracket - 9-
slightly upward and remove the seat cushion from the stud bolts on the left
seat rail - 8-.
Note
The bracket - 9- is not installed on the right
rear bench seat.
- Pull the seat cushion - 4- forward out of
the guide rails in the seat frame.
Installing
- Install in reverse order of removal.
Rear Bench Seat Backrest Adjustment Trim, Removing and Installing
Note
The procedure describes removing and installing the left trim from the left
segment of the rear bench seat. The procedure for removing the right trim from
the left segment or both trim pieces from the right segment is the same.
Removing
- Move the corresponding section of the rear bench seat all the way
forward.
- Remove the screw - 3- (2.5 Nm) and remove
the backrest adjustment trim - 2- from the
backrest hinge.
- Guide the backrest release pull loop - 1-
out of the trim.
Installing
- Install in reverse order of removal.
Bench Seat Forward/Backward Adjustment Lever, Removing and Installing
Note
The procedure describes removing and installing the left segment of the rear
bench seat. Removing and Installing the right segment is the same.
Removing
- Remove the corresponding rear bench seat section.
- Remove the two cable ties - 2- and
- 3-.
Note
- The two cable ties - 2- and
- 3- are destroyed during removal. They must be
replaced when installing.
- Instead of two cable ties, two clips may be installed, which must be
removed.
- Pull the release lever - 1- out of the left
mount - arrow A-.
- Pull the release lever out of the right mount -
arrow B- and remove it from the seat rails.
Installing
- Install in reverse order of removal.
Bench Seat Rails, Removing and Installing
Note
- Removing and installing the right seat rail from the left rear bench
seat is described.
- Removing and installing the left seat rail is identical.
- Removing and installing the seat rails for the right bench seat is
identical.
Removing
- Remove the corresponding rear bench seat section.
- To be able to remove the left seat rail from the right rear bench seat,
the right seat belt latch must be removed.
Note
- If both seal rails are being replaced, then each one must be replaced
separately.
- The determined dimensions - a- and
- b- are the starting point and basis for the
procedure.
- The seat rails may not be removed before aligning.
- Move the rear bench seat in both seat rails all the way back.
- Remove the forward/back adjustment lever for the bench seat.
- Record the dimensions - a-,
- b-, - c- and
- d-.
- Fold the backrest forward.
- Remove the bolt - 3- (6 Nm) and release the
spring - 2- from the gliding piece
- 1-.
Caution
The backrest must be folded forward when loosening from the spring
- 2-. This position releases the tension from the
spring.
- Fold the backrest toward the rear once again.
- Remove the three nuts - 6- (48 Nm)
- Remove the two nuts - 7- (24 Nm) and remove
the seat rail - 4- from the seat frame.
Installing
- Place the seat rail - 4- in its
installation position and tighten the nuts - 6-
and - 7- by hand.
Note
- Make sure the rear bench seat segment is in the front catch in both seat
rails. If using a new seat rail, bring the rear bench seat segment into the
front catch.
- Pressing down the locking pin - 5- makes it
possible to move the seat rail - 4-.
- Align the seat rails to match the distance dimensions
- a-, - b-,
- c- and - d-.
- Tighten the three nuts - 6- (48 Nm).
- Tighten the two nuts - 7- (24 Nm).
- Fold the backrest forward.
- Place the spring component - 2- on the
gliding piece - 1-.
- Tighten the bolt - 3- (6 Nm).
- Install the bench seat forward/back adjustment lever.
- Install the rear bench seat.
Perform the Following Function test after Installing:
- Operate the forward/back adjustment; the rear bench seat must move
evenly.
- Move both sections of the rear bench seat as far back as possible.
- Operate the backrest release; the backrest must fold forward on its own.
If this does not happen, remove the screws and align the rear bench seat once
again.
- Make sure, by touching, that both seat rails are locked into the most
rearward position.
Note
When locked, the locking pin - 5- is in the
upper position.
If this is not the case, then the rear bench seat must be removed and the
seat rail must be aligned again.
